Missing Dad

I was merely 16 y/o when dad passed away. Although I’ve never questioned God why, there have been moments in my life were I have missed him so much. I wonder how different life could have been with him alive. I question myself if he would be proud of me. What things sarcastically would he comment about my life decisions. I even think if he would still be working. Would he still be playing the trumpet in church

It’s been 27 years and I still miss him.

You have been a role model in my life. I wanted always yo be like you; funny, humble, people’s person with a great heart. I will forever miss you.

See you in heaven!

LOVE YOU!!!!

I’m a first time reader to your OD, and I am about to lose my mother. This entry has touched my soul. Even though I am 55 years old, I will miss her for the remainder of my days. You will always miss your dad, but I can guarantee you… he is proud of you and his love is even stronger for you now in heaven. You can’t even imagine the depth of it, and it is pure. He may have gotten a good chuckle out of some of your life decisions, and possibly shaken his head a few times as all parents do… but prouder than proud with all that love. The good kind of pride.

It is wonderful to see how much you love him and how he is still a role model for you. And I can also guarantee you he would probably still be playing that trumpet, too… and he is playing it for the Lord for all eternity. What a blessing!

Wait until we get there, friend. How amazing it will be to be not only reunited with all those we love and who love us, but those who do and you never even met them… generations back to the beginning of time! It’s impossible for our finite human brains to imagine all that infinite everything.

You’re a lovely person, and I can tell just from this entry… the only one I’ve ever read by you.

@caria the sense of being powerless is the worst when it comes to illness. Dad passed away from an aneurism which was quick and kinda painless. I cannot imagine what you and your family are going through. But I’ll keep you in my prayers. Sending some virtual hugs to you.
