I'm a cardiac/neuro RN who excels in video games, piling up loans for graduate school, and sarcasm while storytelling and playing dungeons and dragons on the side. Writing is one of my favorite things to do. I aspire to be a nurse practitioner, a spiritual soul, someone with confidence, and maybe a person that could just match her socks for once.
In summary, I do nurse things when I'm not playing make-believe.

Suddenly, My Resolutions Seem Silly

April 19, 2020
2020 was supposed to be so much more. I’m sure this isn’t the case for just me, but for everyone. Nobody could have anticipated a viral outbreak that would keep some contained in their homes for weeks to months at a time, and nobody could have anticipated that those who were labeled “essential” w...

  • A Reluctant Rant
    October 29, 2019
I hate writing negative things in my journal. I love to write, and have written a lot of things I’m proud of. I like to describe my entry-writing as “PRN” or in nurse-speak, ‘as needed’. It’s not something I want to commit to on a regular basis because I know myself, and I know I’ll…

It’s been awhile since I’ve written on OpenDiary, and I’m not entirely sure why. I love the website and lurk often, reading other posts and commenting when I feel that I have something meaningful to say in response. A part of me feels nosey doing this, and another part of me appreciates that we c...

  • A Two-Wheeled Venture
    July 4, 2019
If I could stand before myself just over three weeks ago and say, “Hey. You’re going to be getting your motorcycle license and a brand new bike in the weeks to come”, I wouldn’t have believed it. Now here I am, sitting on the balcony on this rainy day and looking down at my new…

  • Feeling Peaceful
    June 8, 2019
There’s no better feeling than when you finish a huge project. Mine this week was a research paper for school - something that I spent fourteen hours straight on, followed by another four hours today. It’s not perfect, but I worked so hard on it. The topic is something that interests me, which ma...

    June 5, 2019
I’m trying not to get my hopes up as I hit the ‘submit’ button on my application to a local clinic. The problem with changing jobs now is that I’ll be getting my masters degree in just under two years and will need to start my clinical rotations next March. The problem with clinic jobs…

  • Challenging Myself
    June 2, 2019
I'm always up for challenging myself to do new things. Become better. Do better. Self-improvement sort of stuff. So when my old coworker, Amy, started a '30-Day Challenge' group on Facebook, I was all in. Now, Facebook isn't something I typically use. I'm not crazy about how political it's gotten...

  • Insomnia
    June 1, 2019
Every inch of me tells me that I should try and rest tonight. My body is tired, but unfortunately my mind is restless. Four hours of sleep last night and two the night prior have left me fatigued yet here I sit instead, thinking about lots of random things - none of which always ever…

  • Girl Crush
    May 30, 2019
I woke this morning and hurriedly got ready for an appointment at the health pavilion twenty minutes south of where I live. My two hours of sleep was not sufficient, and I realized this after pressing ‘snooze’ at least twice and then having the typical ‘oh shit’ moment that occurs when one realiz...

  • Something I Didn’t Expect When Going Plant-Based
    May 27, 2019
When I made the decision for my health to change my diet to a plant-based one, I knew it would be challenging. Nearly two months in and I’m already seeing health benefits. First and foremost, my acne is clearing. Living with polycystic ovary syndrome I have terrible cystic acne that makes me incr...
