A big journey starts with small steps
Hello all,
These last two weeks have been hectic, hence why I haven’t posted here.
I’m slowly starting to feel more optimistic about doing my music and model photography again, but there is one major thing that is standing in the way of things: my physical health.
I saw my doctor this afternoon regarding some X-ray scans that I had done last week, due to discomfort in my feet and in my knees. This is what the results were:
X-Ray of both knees:
Clincial details:
Left knee pains for the last 4 months in patella
Findings: There is normal alignment of the tibiofemoral joints with only minimal medial compartment degenerative changes. There is normal alignment of patellofemoral joints in the skyline views. Minor osteophytic lipping is seen related to the articular surface of the left patella in keeping with minimal degenerative change.
There is no evidence of radiopaque loose body or significant effusion related to either knee.
X-Ray Right Foot:
Clinical details:
Right tarsometarsal tenderness ?: Osteoarthritis
Findings: No significant degenerative changes are seen related to the tarsometatarsal joints. Mild degenerative changes are seen related to the first MTP joint. There is a large plantar calcaneal spur. A large traction spur is seen at the Achilles tendon insertion on the calcaneum. Small osteophytes are seen at the superior aspect of the talonavicular joint. No other significant bone or joint abnormality is seen.
With my next pay, I’m going to invest in some fish oil to see if that can help relieve me of the osteoarthritis as well as get some physiotherapy treatment. It costs $125 a session, and they don’t bulk bill anymore, which is a pity. But if that’s what needs to be done to get my health back on track, then so be it.
As far as my weight is concerned, I am now 125kg, which makes me morbidly obese. I have bought a set of bathroom scales to monitor my progress once I start out on dieting and exercising more. The weight I feel is making me breathless and being asthmatic already doesn’t help me.
But I don’t want to be pushing myself too hard or become discouraged or impatient. If I am to lose weight, it is going to take a matter of months till I have arrived at my optimum goal of being somewhere between 80 – 85kg.
A big journey, and big ambition starts off with small steps.
