American Idol Review – The Girls Week 2
Well, since OD wasn’t working right yesterday this is a day late. I’m working on the men’s reviews now and will post it later.
Every year we have to suffer through the shows until they figure out what works for their voices. And I was suffering tonight. ;(
The judges were right that some of these very young girls are trying to show how mature they are and it’s a big mistake.
Okay, now onto the review part.
Katherine — All Is Fair in Love — Ok, it’s very nice that Katherine and Kellie have found each other, but I really don’t care. Katherine was really off her game tonight. I think she’s studied too much and is using so many professional tricks and tips that she’s losing sight of just plain old singing. I wonder what her mother really thought in the audience, since she’s trainer her with all those vocal affectations. Mom didn’t have such a happy look on her face, until she ended the song and then she smiled big and clapped. One word – simplify.
Kinnik — Gretchen Wilson song ?? — I didn’t like it at all. A prime candidate for the ol’ vaudeville hook come Thursday. That would be a real shame since I think she’s the only contestant whose name is a palindrome.
P. S. She has the biggest forehead I’ve ever seen!!!
Lisa — Who’s Loving You — Second line — major out of key problem. Was it Lisa or the background singers? Ouch! This girl has a voice, so there’s not excuse for sloppiness at the end of some lines, a little off-key here and there. I wasn’t particularly happy with this.
Melissa — Why Haven’t I Heard from You — Well sung. Strong voice. She did a good job. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the song, but she did it well. I don’t know if she has the likeability factor and it’s too bad because I thought she was the best performance of the night.
Heather — Hero — She doesn’t have a strong voice, but sang a song recorded by a very strong singers — in front of Randy Jackson who works with Mariah. Pretty dumb, if you ask me. She certainly did better this week than last, but she’s still on my buh-bye list. Simon was so right.
Brenna (ugh) — Last Dance — Someone put her out of her misery, and save my ears in the process. This totally sucked.
Puh-leeze , send this one home Thursday. I can’t stand her attitude and she’s certainly NOT all that and a bag of chips so she needs to just sit down somewhere.
Paris — Wind Beneath My Wings — Not good. HUGE disappointment for me. Another one who’s pulling out the vocal tricks and they are falling flat on this song. The second half of the song was much better than the first. Oh, let me take that back – that last line wasn’t good either. Was she in a bad key for her range or what?
Ayla — I Want You to Need Me — She did better than Heather singing a Mariah song, but this girl is no Celine. I don’t know if I liked her or not. I just don’t know. I want to like her because she’s a home girl but she’s rather robotic. Gotta agree with Simon there.
Kellie — Something to Talk About — She is just so likeable. Good song choice — it suited her and she sang it pretty well. It might have been the one of the best performances of the night, surprisingly enough, given that she’s just got the cutest personality. You can’t help but root for her.
Mandisa — Cry — This woman can sing. Without the affectations of Katherine and Paris. I liked it. Good strong, full voice. Tiny off moments, but she hasn’t let me down yet.
Who can leave? Brenna, Heather, Kinnik
The guys to come later.
*loves Mandisa*

Brenna would be my choice, miss attitude just dont get it for me. I thought Taylor did terrible last night (i know this is about the girls but….) I would like to hear him sing a joe cocker song, or harry conick jr. Of the man…send that squirrly donnie ozmund crooner home. geez, i sound me.

i don’t like mandisa’s personality. i think paris is conceited and brenna needs to go far, far away. Though Ayla is a good singer, she’s getting far too much publicity up here and she’s molding herself. She has no real stance, but instead just molds herself into what everyone wants her to be. she has no individuality. Kellie- I love her.

Damn, missed it again.

I liked Ayla and Kellie best this week. And I agree with who should go home!

They can all go home and I’d be happy. LOL. So not liking any of the girls this year at all. Alexis has taken a liking to Lisa for some reason though and she is convinced she’ll win. *Shakes head* 5 year olds.

I can’t STAND Brenna!!! GAHHH!!! And I think Kinnik looks like a man in drag. LOL

i LOVE katherine and i SWEAR i know her. seriously. she is someone that i saw EVERY day of my life for a long time but i don’t think i ever talked to her. we are from the same town so i’m thinking i went to school w/ her and never talked to her. and i think that the girl who sang ‘hero’ looks just like barbie!
Warning Comment
Poo, I only got to watch the guys, so I can’t comment.

Brenna IS a huge hoe bag. Does she really think she can be an American Idol with a tude like that? Me thinks NOT.

Mandisa is from the ATL. She won a contest on my local radio station to go to the front of the idol audition line and be the first one that Randy Paula and Simon heard in my city. For that reason only, I will pay slight slight attention to Idol this season. I’ve really tried, but I just can’t watch it anymore.
Warning Comment
Um, yeah. Absolutely. (Okay, I have no idea who’s good and who isn’t because I don’t watch the show, but you’re right, I’m sure.)
Warning Comment
LOL! I have to say, I love it when you serial note me! *smooch*

RYN: I did, I did! Yesterday morning, I did it. She’s good. And very clean, now.

I don’t think they eliminated enough of the weird girl names yet … I reserve judgment. This is something on television, right? So, it’s okay if I haven’t got the foggiest what you’re talking about, right? Yes, I don’t put my tree up until a few days before Christmas and when my son comes home from college, I have to dust off the tv.

The only moments I’ve watched AI this year, and it was Brenna’s performance. OMG. I cringed through the entire thing and was shocked that they didn’t rip her on how off key she was, etc. Frankly, it made me glad I’m not watching this season. Maybe when they get to the final 10 I’ll think about it.
