Why can’t I get past.
All I wanted to do was watch A man called Otto. I had no clue it was what it was. Sure the ads made it seem like he’s a grumpy old man who becomes a nice man, but they didn’t show the love and loss story.
Not to spoil it, but I couldn’t finish it. It hurt too much. No my situation has nothing to do with the character’s loss, but it’s the same feelings. His thoughts and actions about the loss are exactly how I feel about mine.
Yes there’s a difference between the character’s and mine, but if you see the movie you will understand how tough it’s been for me and how it’s still hurts.
Of course, I don’t have the neighbors or others around me as he does to help him see past his hurt.
It still hurts, because holding on to hurt help protect us from another kind of pain. It has its payoffs.
For me, holding on to hurt protect me from the possible pain of disappointment, if i were to try to believe in hope, in love. For others, it can the uncertainty of facing a life that they never knew exist, a life of “no hurt” which feels unreal to them.
If you were to let go of hurt, what would you have to face?
What are the payoffs for you for holding on to hurt?
you need to be aware of these subconscious coping mechanisms inside you, so that you know how to navigate your way out of the hurt.
@journalsecret I’m working on it, but you can see by my earlier posts the road has been full of potholes.
@newt316 it’s not easy but healing is definitely possible. I hope you get the right support and guidance. for me, i found a wonderful community that is focussed on healing. It was headed by a spiritual teacher who was an amazing healer, and there are therapists and healers in this community. They helped me discover hope and life again.

I had this on my list to watch…but it sounds sad…I’ll wait till I’m feeling up to it.
@strawberryjelly Please watch it. I just went in with the wrong frame of mind and wasn’t ready. Also it didn’t help being the only man at the show bawling his eyes out.

I’ve wanted to see this movie…I usually like everything he plays in. I’m sorry you couldn’t finish watching it and that it just made you feel sad 🙁
@happyathome it is good. But like I said, I went into it with a different impression and wasn’t ready for the heaviness of it.
