Where does the time go?

I think I was in a bit of denial when I got the email. For some reason it did not compute, plus it was a long day at school again…

But this is real. It has been three years since this went off line. Three years of so many, too many things…

I am still teaching, still at the same school – now on year 13 and working on my administration licence, with the intent of ‘taking over’ my school someday. This year I am teaching a middle school class, and this past week one of my students told me:

Cute 7th grade girl: “Hey, you were my mom’s teacher.”

Me: O_o -Interior dialogue- “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”  “Oh really, who is your mom?”

Cute 7th grade girl: “—-. Well, she’s really my stepmom. She asked who my teacher was and I told her you, and she said to tell you hi and that you were still her favorite teacher.”

Me: “Aw, that’s so sweet!…” –Interior dialogue “Holy hell, I am only 36. I had — 10 years ago when she was 18…. Wait, she is old enough to be a mom….She’s 28 now… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH…”
