I love writing and have kept a diary on and off since my teens. I have also written the first part of my autobiography and some short stories and poems.

I live in a village in South Herefordshire on a hill overlooking the Black Mountains. I am married to John and we have 3 grown up children, Chris, who lives in Hereford, Cat who is with her partner in Cardiff and Tony who is back with us after 2 years away.

Apart from writing my interests are music, I sing and play guitar at folk clubs, reading, genealogy, I am addicted to that, gardening, travel, psychology and history.

Well here I am, back again, after 4 years. It was great to see Open Diary again and to find my original diary still here. I did download it before the closure but that was just the text, it wasn't the same, here it is again with all of the photos. I had moved over…

I hadn't planned to make any more entries here but I couldn't resist this. I took this photo a few weeks back. It's thie view from our bedroom. The lake opposite is actually a field!  The train was stuck there for hours because of floods in south Wales. It's been raining here for ever...

  • Goodbye Open Diary
    January 28, 2014
I am really sad that Open Diary is closing down. I have been here 10 years. Even though my postings have sometimes been sporadic, I loved knowing that this place was here with all of my thoughts and photos and notes from other diarists. I have met some really lovely people here and will be…

  • Winter Blues
    January 24, 2014
So far this year has felt really hard going. The run up to Christmas was a little more stressful than usual. I stayed with my daughter in Cardiff for 2 weeks in late November/early December. Then we heard that an elderly relative had died so I came home, had one night here and set…

  • Brilliant Christmas Day
    December 24, 2013
Well that was one of the best Christmas Days ever. It didn't bode well at the beginning. Hubby had developed a bad cold last night and woke up feeling even worse, and I woke with a migraine. I took a tablet but it left me with bad side effects. Neither of us felt up…

I was really proud of my  younger son on Monday. He told me that he stopped work for the two minutes silence even though most of his workmates didn't bother. Like me he is very anti war, but that doesn't change the respect we feel for those who have lost their lives. War is…

  • An Autumn Walk through Queenswood
    October 30, 2013
We have our daughter's dog staying with us for a while so on Tuesday we decided to take her for a woodland walk in Queenswood, a really beautiful spot a few miles north of Hereford.   We have been visiting that place for 35 years, ever since we moved to Herefordshire. One of our earliest&hel...

  • St Jude’s
    October 27, 2013
Well I didn't do very well with writing regularly, it's 2 months again. We are supposed to have had the 'storm of the century' last night but it seemed just like a normal autumn storm to me. According to the news it was pretty bad in the south. They are calling it St Jude's…

  • Back at last!
    August 24, 2013
I haven't written an entry since mid May, in fact I haven't visited very often either. After the entries about our holiday which all went wrong  I got kind of disillusioned. It was actually down to my writing them in Microsoft Word, as I didn't have access to the internet while on holiday, a...
