Married to the love of my life for 35 years. Love my 3 great adult kids, my 2 wonderful sons-in-law, and our 3 lively grandchildren. Working at a perfect part-time job for me - editor and writer for a construction industry blog. Very happy to see this re-boot of Open Diary, where I made such fun online friends many years ago. Hubby and I now in the phase where we help our aging parents through their next transitions. Circle of life, it appears. We still are lucky enough to be able to just escape from time to time!

I sobbed today

May 21, 2020
Last night we put our sweet dog down.  For the first time in 30 years, we don't have any pets.  I also went in to cancer-related infusion today (the good kind which does not attack my good cells).  Getting up this morning without the routine of what Sadie (my dog) would have needed before I…

Covid cancellations.  Hopeful reschedules.  Better days.  Hope. Also, I named this entry to make sure you are all watching that show. Better Things. Friend/Neighbor Jean asked me last January when I was next able to visit our beautiful property in the Texas Hill Country past Kerrville.  When I to...

#totw68 Scariest thing for me was losing my dad to cancer when I was a young mom and he was still my dad.  He was diagnosed at age 49.  He survived 5 years and got to meet all of his grandkids (who were too young to remember him.) During those years, I was introduced to…

That is what I was realizing a little while ago.  I went to another chemo treatment today, and I am also in the middle of being attacked by seasonal allergies; so in the middle of treatment I had a severe coughing fit that caused me to turn bright red and probably spike my blood pressure…

Monday, I returned to Karen and Aaron’s house so that I could take my Mom to doctors’ appointments Tuesday and Wednesday. I arrived a...

  • Dinner Conversation
    August 14, 2019
Staying at my daughter’s house tonight after taking Mom to chemo today.  At dinner my three grandkids were vying for a turn to get their conversations listened to.  My daughter was moderating a bit such as “now it is L’s turn to speak, just wait for your turn.”  After one of her brothers had a&he...

  • I Can’t Stop Smiling!
    April 26, 2019
My early morning wake-up alarm to take my new thyroid pill and obligatory bathroom break caused me to walk into the dark kitchen area of my daughter’s home to discover a very excited six-year-old waiting to share the good news of the Tooth Fairy’s very first visit!  This was followed with the goo...
