I am the widowed father of three sons, two of which still live at home.  I have two grandsons, and at this writing, one on the way.  I am an artist by training, and a correctional officer by necessity.  One has to pay the bills and have medical coverage for one's family. Sometimes dreams have to wait for life to settle down. My kids are my life, and most of what I put here will be about them, because everything in my life is about them.  Feel free to stop in, browse and leave any comments.  I am not thin skinned or easily insulted, and all feedback is gratefully accepted and considered. Always looking for new friends from whom I can learn new things.  I hope I never get too old to learn new things, experience new things, and learn the value of new friends.

October 9, 2020
Wow, it's been seven years, and I just found out OD is back in service.  I went to another site, and even found a couple of old OD friends here, but it wasnt the same for me.  I really liked it here.  My last post was about my son, Brad....That's the most drastic change of…

Aaah, I was so happy things have been going so well, and I may be making something out of nothing, but Brad really upset me yesterday. I got off work at 6pm and was told my Gail (girlfriend) that he had to go to work early. I called to make sure he got there okay,…

Well, our Christmas didn't go as planned, but it was still very nice. Brad and I both had to work, so little family time was spent together. Brian, Brad and I had our Christmas gift exchange on Christmas Eve. Yesterday after work, I loaded Brian and the gifts for Brandon, Jill and the grandsons u...

Trying to be more faithful about making entries lately. I can't remember if I mentioned before, but I got the second job, and been logging a lot of hours, 80-100 per week between this one and my regular job. I was going to slow down, but each time I think I'm catching up, something new…

  • Interesting Conversation with the Crazies
    November 1, 2013
Had to write this one down for posterity. Today I was working a few hours in Bradley's place so he could make a dentist appointment. The duty post was at a pharmacy in Houston. While walking a customer to her car, a man approached me and introduced himself as Jeremy Vaughn. He said, "You know&hel...

    October 25, 2013
Okay, told myself I was going to get back in the OD saddle, so here I am again! Been raining here in my portion of the Lone Star State pretty heavily since yesterday. My yard is under water for the most part, and I live on a hill. Lots of flooding in my area today.…

  • Waiting for Fall
    September 3, 2013
Well, it's been blisteringly hot down south this summer.  I checked the outside temperature at work yesterday and it registered 104.6.  I felt okay with the heat until I saw how hot it really was, then it suddenly became all but unbearable.  Sometimes ignorance really is blis...

Well, my air conditioning is out, and with the advent of school year expenses, I won't be able to pay a repairman for another week.  With  100 degree plus weather, it's not comfortable at ALL here.  But, we've endured far worse situations, this too shall pass.  And maybe it'll...
